That's a good question @donanimee !
When the Baby of Yuu is Born
• If we're talking about the birth itself, I think it would have happened sometime between books 6 and 7. I already mentioned that when Yuu arrived in Twisted Wonderland, she was already a month or two pregnant, so by the time those events occurred, Yuu should have been around 8 months at most. Besides, with the stress of the situation, the baby probably came out prematurely.
• Obviously, I don't think Yuu would have participated in the same way in book 6 because of the pregnancy, but let's just say that once they reached dry land, her water broke, to everyone's horror and concern.
• Riddle was the only one who more or less kept his composure and sent the others to get things for Yuu while he and Adeuce took her to Ramshakle (and Grim brought Crewel, the closest thing they had to a doctor). Ace, being Ace, had Crowley give Yuu his hand so she could squeeze it with all her might (it was cathartic and extremely necessary, thanks Ace), and the other students were calling doctors, bringing things like healing potions in case things went wrong, etc.
• It was chaos in short. The labor lasted approximately 8 hours (with luck, it could be less or MORE hours), and Yuu ends up giving birth to a beautiful baby girl.
• All the panic finally dissipates when the students hear the baby cry for the first time—a loud cry of a healthy baby :,)
• Of course, as soon as everything calms down, Crewel and Trein kick everyone out of the dorm so Yuu can have a few quality days alone with her baby (the only one who can stay is Grim).
• The first few days of motherhood are quite pleasant, fortunately. The baby is healthy and strong, she doesn't wake up much at night, and when she does, the ghosts try to entertain her so Yuu can sleep (unless she has to be fed).
• Yuu also doesn't have to worry about bringing food; several students leave things at Ramshakle's door so as not to bother her with visitors (food, blankets, clothes, etc.).
• Grim is definitely quieter than usual when the baby is born. He's partly afraid that Yuu won't love him anymore or considers him dangerous to have around the baby. But when she offers to say hello and introduces him as a BIG BROTHER... yeah, you can bet Grim cried in Yuu's arms and the baby for a looooong time.
• Riddle is one of the first allowed to visit, and he brings a ton of gifts from the Heartslabyul students (Cater, Trey, and Adeuce). He's the most tense when it comes to interacting with the baby at first. Even though he's taken all the necessary sanitary measures, he's so afraid of doing something wrong. But when Yuu helps him carry her properly and the baby sits comfortably in his arms, he melts.
• He invites Yuu over for tea more often (either to catch up on studies or because he sees that Yuu is really stressed), with the baby, of course! The students in the dorm are happy to take turns watching her so Yuu can have some quiet time. I'd say Riddle still sees Yuu as a sort of maternal/older sister figure, only now his protective instincts also extend to the baby.
• Leona is probably the last one to realistically meet the baby. He doesn't have a good relationship with the children (he can barely stand Cheka), and even if he doesn't say it out loud, he doesn't want to feel left out now that the baby is finally born (mainly because he knows it's a shitty feeling for a shitty reason). Leona only gets to meet Yuu's baby when he stumbles upon her by chance at the botanical garden (not because Yuu was looking for him and Ruggie ratted him out, not at all).
• Leona isn't very patient, but he definitely makes sure the baby is in good hands if Yuu can't watch her for a couple of hours (probably making Ruggie do all the work), preventing the baby from doing stupid things once she starts crawling and putting things in her mouth (no herbivore, don't eat dirt—or toys! You almost look like Ruggie). he acts like he doesn't care, but he'll jump out of his seat if he sees the baby with something in her mouth that shouldn't be there.
• Azul, along with the twins, have probably never seen a human baby up close—they're so small! Floyd is probably one of the first people to visit Yuu and her baby—even Jade mentions it to him when they go to Monster Lounge—and they’re surprisingly careful with the baby, especially Azul, who holds her like she’s made of glass.
• I imagine that when the baby starts walking, Yuu gets so stressed out from taking care of her AND being Crowley’s errand girl that she forgets to eat. To solve this, Azul implements something new at Monster Lounge: a baby menu! The catch is that Yuu also has to order something to eat FOR HERSELF ;) no shrimp will go hungry in their watch.
• KALIM ABSOLUTELY LOVES THE BABY! Although sadly, he couldn't take her to Scarabia because she cried so loudly during the festivities. Kalim is an EXPERT at putting babies to sleep (again, this guy has 30 younger siblings) and can play with her for HOURS. Meanwhile, Yuu and Jamil get a much-needed break from their two hyperactive children.
• I'll just say that Yuu will be lucky if her baby doesn't have a whole festival dedicated to her birthday thanks to Kalim. That, and now her food stash is stocked to the brim thanks to Jamil and Kalim (and probably some money, but shhhhh). Kalim just wants to help in any way he can.
• I like the headcanon that Vil is good with kids; by extension, I think he finds Yuu's baby absolutely adorable. Sure, he keeps a certain distance from the baby and himself because of her clothes (and also because he doesn't know what effects makeup could have on such a young baby), but he's definitely not above bringing a few things for Yuu and the baby with Rook and Epel.
• Another great one is providing a space for Yuu to care for him, especially when the baby is already a few months old or if Yuu is dealing with any consequences of childbirth. I honestly don't think Vil brings up the topic of losing baby weight right away because I think it's common sense that it's a pretty sensitive topic for women; instead, he focuses on Yuu feeling good about herself.
• Ortho was probably one of the few students allowed to come to Ramshakle every day to check on the baby's health with his scanners. Thanks to that, Idia is probably the one who is most attentive to the health of both the baby and Yuu. She almost seems like a mother hen. Is Yuu eating things with iron? Is it beneficial for pregnant women? Or maybe she should send him food with vitamin D? Is he being too creepy by monitoring this kind of things?
• Idia definitely freezes every time the baby climbs on him, just accepting his fate of being this creature's new favorite fluorescent toy (Ortho has videos of this that he shows the first years).
• Malleus, OH MY GOD, MALLEUS, remember how I told you the baby was born shortly before his Overblot? You can bet everyone was super tense with him around Yuu and the baby after that, almost like a Protection Squad.
• Then again, Malleus had no idea how human birth worked, so he definitely got really distressed when he heard Ramshakle's screams of pain, or when they told him that if they didn't act quickly either Yuu or the baby could DIE. It was like a reminder that, even giving birth to another human being, they are very fragile. Malleus was so relieved when he learned that Yuu and her daughter were okay, but the scare never fade.
• He definitely acts like some kind of weird uncle. He even talks to the baby as if she were an adult, and they have full conversations. The baby just babbles or says random words, and Malleus nods as if he understands and makes up a conversation, much to Yuu's amusement and everyone's confusion. At least Malleus can still have his nightly chats with Yuu, given how little sleep babies get.
• Ace and Deuce try to be as careful as possible with the baby, almost seeming like other people due to the kindness they show the baby in contrast to their normal selves. Although of course, they still have their tricks. Ace especially wants to teach the baby how to say his name, and when that doesn't work, he makes her learn funny nicknames for the others (like calling Riddle "red dwarf," knowing he'd never get mad at the baby).
• Deuce tries to prevent this, but it's in vain. When Yuu and they go out on campus, the baby is usually carried on one of their shoulders (they constantly fight over who is the "favorite uncle," unaware that that position already belongs to Grim).
• BONUS: THE STAFF
• Crowley definitely gives Yuu more work now because she's "no longer incapacitated," but he doesn't give her maternity leave. That is, until a mob of angry teenagers comes to his office to complain about his lack of basic human decency, and he decides to give him a month off. Every time Crowley is near the baby, she cries, but not a normal cry, no, a HYSTERICAL cry. Yuu thinks the problem might be the mask, but you can see how the baby makes faces at Crowley's voice.
• Sam always has things in stock that the baby might like, things like toys, bibs, clothes, etc. While Yuu is shopping, the baby likes to play with Sam's shadow. He thinks it's very interesting that the baby isn't afraid of them and tells Yuu that his baby has a very unique personality.
• Vargas remains essentially the same, a stereotypical gentleman who makes his students also be proper gentlemen to the ladies. If Yuu wants to join the class but has to bring the baby with her, Vargas will happily carry her while yelling at the students to move, occasionally tickling the baby, or passing her some candy.
• Trein is the ultimate babysitter. Not only does he have the experience, but the baby automatically trusts him without hesitation; he's the opposite of Crowley. Trein and Yuu remain close friends (I'd say Trein sees a lot of his daughters in Yuu), and he's willing to lend a hand if she has trouble with the baby. He's also the best source of baby-related advice at the school.
• Crewel's first reaction when the baby was able to leave school was to go shopping for clothes with Yuu, mostly matching clothes—he thinks they're the cutest thing ever! He's definitely bought her Dalmatian onesies. He definitely takes every opportunity he gets when he visits Yuu for tea to see the baby (it's like that "move bitch" meme).
• Overall, a big, dysfunctional, happy family was formed.

This feedback of you @lamentationsofalonelypotato, still makes me so happy 🥰😭 And my senile (you'll see once you crack the 30s) brain made me think I had reacted to this weeks ago.
Apparently it was all in my head.
OH LOOK OVER THERE *throws red herring*
Okay, okay, enough with the peep show - eyes on me now - back to business. 🤨
First I just want to say the "It's Ok. Writers Should Be Strange" is the best thing that I've seen this week and it is SO true.
ME TOO. I was looking for fitting quotes for the writer's block but when I stumbled across this one, it just spoke to me on a deeper level and I just had to add it.
Secondly… Thank you so much for tagging me in this, because it is LOVELY! I definitely needed Dean to help talk me through my writer's block and cheer me up 😭🥰 Thank you for your service- for literally writing this for all the writer girlies with imposter syndrome and writer's block who needed this today 🫡
In my head this quote fitted better lmao. I am happy it managed to cheer you up!! 🥰 It sure helped me writing it haha. Guess all those 'write what's on your mind' advices aren't too bad.
This is just a little thing, but whenever someone includes the word "audacity" in a fic I fall in love with them so congratulations 💐
LMAO I love the word as well. Funny thing is, I used to think it has something to do with sound because I only knew the word from the sound program 'Audacity' (like 10 years ago). Also the reason why I'd pronounce it as 'Auda-city' , 'cuz audio, right? 🤣😭
Yep. This is it. The travesty of writer's block- having it all in your head and not being able to actually put any of it to paper. And the writer's block (for me) only worsens when the frustration builds and builds being unable to write anything down. It's just (throws chair through window) just (starts aggressively peeling potatoes) just (eye twitching) just (slams on the keys) so annoying lol 😒
NOW YOU'RE KILLING ME 🤣 love how we're going from 'throwing a chair through the window' to something passive aggressive as 'slamming on the keys' 🤣 SO TRUE THO!
Also the "constipation" jokes are beautiful lol- I'm pretty sure that's the first time anyone has ever said that about constipation in general, but I am without shame 🤣 LMAO
Glad the joke worked, because I was hesitant about using the word in this context. LOL
I'm also not sure if i've told you this before, but I really like the way you write dialogue. In this it was a perfect combination of flirting and banter and it was just chef's kiss. It all seemed really realistic and I absolutely loved it!
No one has ever told me this before 🥺 - you're making cry over here 😭😭😭 Thank you so much!!! Writing dialogue's always been a bit daunting to me, mainly because I'm afraid I won't get the character's speaking style / accents correct, so hearing this means so much to me! 🧡
BUT OH MY WORD! I loved this one! The idea of writer's block being a "curse" was so imaginative and honestly just what I needed to make me feel better about my current writer's block curse 🤣😭 And also made me want Dean to waltz in to relieve some of that frustration 👀
You're very welcome 🧡 and oh yes, Dean would need to take his time in order to rid us of all that frustration 🤭

⋆ ˚。⋆ PAIRING Dean Winchester x Writer!Reader [Early seasons vibe]
WARNINGS None! No use of Y/N. English isn't my native language.
⋆ ˚。⋆ SUMMARY You're in your favourite diner; Got your coffee, breakfast, laptop in front of you. It's the perfect time to write. If it wasn't for the writer's block that's holding you in a chokehold. Oh, and the guy who has decided to join you.
⋆ ˚。⋆ WORDS ~2k
⋆ ˚。⋆ J/NOTES This silly little thing's dedicated to all my moots who’ve fallen victim to the writer’s curse just like me. I feel you. We can do this!! We can break the curse!!! 🫂
"Doesn’t suit you." A playful voice snaps you out of your thoughts.
"..Huh?" You look up just in time to see a well-worn leather jacket brush past your shoulder.
The booth seat across from you is being filled as a stranger slides in. A plate in one hand and a spoon in the other. Your eyebrows rise, and for a moment you debate whether to tell him the seat is taken.
But the guy doesn’t seem to notice your thoughts. He’s busy ogling his food, humming a curious ‘hm’, and then shoving a spoonful of cereal into his mouth. All the while he continues to mutter, his words now half muffled, "That thing you’re doing to your face."
You blink at him.
He puffs his cheeks, and green eyes travel up to meet yours for the first time, "Makes you look like the Grinch." His lips quirk into a smirk.
What? The audacity.
You stare at him with a deadpan. "Thanks for the compliment." He continues to chew, the flakes crunching. Accompanied by a content hum. Well, at least someone’s enjoying their breakfast.
"Just sayin’." He purses his lips before he eats another spoon, his cheeks stuffed like a chipmunk’s and an eyebrow arched. "What’s up with the face, sweetheart?"
"Uh," - is all you can manage at the moment. Too distracted by the way he's guzzling his yoghurt like a starved caveman. All eyes fluttered closed and nodding to himself like he's thinking ‘Finally, some good fucking food’.
He swallows. Tongue darts out to swipe a white dribble off his upper lip. When his eyes suddenly snap open, you avert yours in record time.
Your gaze's now fixed to the edge of the table, as if it’s the most interesting thing in the room. Left and right of it an elbow each. Of course you had to drop your gaze right between his arms. Well, this is awkward.
"You working on somethin'?" He suddenly asks, and you startle like a deer.
Your lips part - ready to form an answer - when you watch him splotching your notebook in slow-motion.
Your eyebrows twitch in irritation. You dart out a hand, just managing to pull your papers back before another dribble of his slobber taints your notes.
"Dude, please, you’re eating like a barn animal," you comment under your breath, face scrunched up as you wipe the stain off your paperback. Way to lose ones charm.
"But a handsome one," he quickly retorts. And stuffs another spoon into his wide grin, swallows and jerks his chin at your laptop. "So?"
Okay, fine. Maybe he still does have charm.
Your eyes follow his gaze down to the screen facing your way.
"I’m writing," you reply flatly, trying to hold his curious gaze as you tuck your papers safely under your forearms.
His expression flashes into a surprised one. Probably more at your tone than the answer itself.
Granted, the words 'I'm writing' should have come out enthusiastic. They at least used to. But that was before you’d been staring at a white screen for what felt like weeks.
"Uh-huh," he mumbles, the sound muffled as he keeps shovelling the muesli down his hatch. "Can I see?"
"W-what?"
How- how dare he? Only an uncultivated potato would ask that. This is like the biggest No-No. One does not simply ask a writer to look at their unfinished work. You don't stare at a painter when he's still painting. That's like asking someone to strip naked. And then have them bend over.
Let’s ignore the fact that there’s not a single written word to be ashamed of. Because there’s literally not a single written word in your doc.
"No." The answer probably came faster and more obvious of your inner panic than it should have, because to him it clearly translated to; 'Oh? Then I‘ll see it all the more.'
"Aw, c‘mon." His teasing grin spreads, the spoon tipped against his lower lip, "I won‘t judge." Damn it, why does he look kinda adorable?
Before you can react, the guy clamps the spoon between his lips, reaches over the table with his free hand and tilts your laptops screen back down.
"Hey!" you smack his hand away but it‘s too late - his grin just grows and he chuckles.
"Writing, huh? You mean you’ve been staring at a white wall. Here I thought you were writing some spicy stuff about me. What’s all the fuzz about?"
"I- I'm just... I'm still thinking..." you mutter and avoid his gaze behind a hand, trying to cover up the slight tint of embarrassment that’s crept onto your face. "I've got it all in my head, though." You try to back up your answer. He tilts his head back with a chuckle.
"All in your head, huh? For how long this been going?" he quips, lips twitching amused.
"Well, uh-" you begin, then clear your throat with an awkward rub of your neck, "A few days... or... weeks... maybe..." Your voice lowers more with every word until it's reduced to a sheepish whisper.
"Damn, that sucks." he huffs.
"Yeah," you admit with a heavy sigh, "It does."
For a moment you just share a look. His green eyes watch you closely. Calm and curious. But without ever being obtrusive. More like he's trying to get a read on you, like he's patiently waiting, allowing you to open up and reveal more.
And for some reason you find yourself to do just that.
"It's so frustrating, you know?" You begin and slump back in your seat. But he holds your gaze, the entire time and nods subtly, silently telling you to go on. "Like I've got all the ideas in my mind. I can see the scenes play out, can hear the characters talk. But the same moment I try to write it down, it all just-" you break off with a huff, gesturing a 'poof' with your hand.
After a moment, you add another frustrated sigh. "Honestly? Feels like the damn pipeline between my brain and hand's constipated." His eyebrows shoot up at that description.
"You’re an odd one," he laughs and sets the emptied plate down, "I like it."
"Pfff - look who’s talking. Mister 'handsome barn animal'." You jab and can’t help the chuckle. He smirks satisfied at your reaction, tugs at his leather jacket and winks at you.
You roll your eyes with a wide smile.
"What's your name?" You ask curiously.
"Dean," he answers simply. Then leans forward to rest on his forearms, "And you, sweetheart?" Your ears flush when he comes closer and you suddenly become very much aware of the effect his intense gaze has on you.
"I- uh, I'm -" you introduce yourself with your name and he repeats it with a smile, like he's committing it to his memory.
There's a moment of silence again and you don't quite know what to do or say - luckily he seems to have picked up on your inner distress.
"So," he begins, his face suddenly taking an air of - what was it? Business-like? Professional? You couldn't quite tell. "Back to your constipation."
"Yeah? What about it? You interested in my constipation?" You return the question, trying to imitate his new tone.
"Y-yeah," He tries to stay serious, but you both have to bite back a chuckle. "I am, actually."
"What about it?"
"This may sound stupid, but..." He mutters and rubs his forehead like he knows the question that'll follow isn't formulated very well, "Can’t you just, write? You know, like will it through?"
"No- That’s not how it works... it’s - it’s not that damn easy- it's - you don’t understand… It's not that I don't want to. I - I just - ugh-" You groan, face dropped to your hands.
You take a deep breath. The frustration of the past weeks threatening to break down on you again. Your eyes begin to sting and you screw them up in an effort to keep yourself from having a full on breakdown in front of a stranger. In a full diner no less.
"Hey, it’s okay, I believe you." he says with a lower voice now, the flirty attitude gone. The sudden change in his tone and his last words catches you off guard.
Your eyebrows pull together and you lift your head just enough to meet his gaze over the edge of your screen.
The air gets caught in your throat when you notice how close he is. He’s leaned across the table, emerald glinting pools searching your face for a trace of an escaped tear. His hand twitches but he puts it back down before it brushes yours.
"Don’t beat yourself up over it. It’s not your fault, ‘kay?" He murmurs. Almost like he’s sharing a secret with you.
"What? What are you talking about..?" And your voice drops to an equally low level to match his.
"You’re doing great, sweetheart. Trust me." He reassures you but avoids your question with another cheeky smile.
Although this one seems different. Genuine. And soft at the corners.
Unfortunately you don't even get to fully take it in when he's suddenly up on his feet. His eyes dart around the diner before they return to you, a hand raised to ruffle through his dark blond hair.
"I gotta go," he mutters, his attention suddenly drawn down to his empty plate, "Ah - Could you pay for that? You're a real sweetheart."
"..What?"
He doesn't wait for your answer as he slides out of the booth and rounds the table. When he's next to you, he stops for a moment and leans in.
"Oh and - Don't do anything stupid, okay?" He whispers. Then straightens his back again, throws you a flirty wink and a wave of his hand while he bounces off with a casual, "See ya~"
"Uh-" your gaze follows him, perplexed, before you echo his words under your breath, "Yeah... see ya."
You kinda hoped you would.
Wait- why would you do something stupid?
The diner door jingles when Dean steps outside. After a glance left and right, he walks towards a taller guy. He looks not much younger than him, but longer brown hair frames his face, his focus on the papers in his hands.
When their eyes meet, Dean jerks his chin at him and he follows him round the corner and out of sight of the diner.
"And? You got a lead?" He asks hopefully.
"Yep." - He pops the ‘p’ - "Looks like it's our lucky day, Sammy. I think we've got our patient zero." Dean takes charge and heads over to a black Chevy, his hands fidgeting in his pants pockets for the car key.
His bow legs bounce off the concrete floor while Sam follows him with long strides.
"You think it's a deal gone wrong? Or maybe some sort of black magic that backfired?" Sam thinks out loud as he flips through the journal in his hand.
"I don't know man. She seemed pretty clueless to me. Maybe Bobby was right, and it is a curse." The car lock clicks and the trunk flings open.
He pulls out a shotgun and props it up against the lid before he starts rifling through the various contents. "I don't even know what I'm looking for." He sighs.
Sam rubs his temple with equal frustration, "Great. How the hell do we get rid of a writer’s curse?"
"Beats me." Dean huffs, then tosses a set of wooden stakes aside and leans back to run a hand through his hair, "Maybe we should call Bobby again…" - he turns to flash a boyish grin at his brother - "...and then check her out some more?"
Sam groans, "Dude, can you not think with your dick, for two seconds please?"
"What? She’s cute. Plus, she’s got that whole ‘tormented soul’ vibe."
"Seriously? Chances are, that she’s the cause for all of this crazy crap that’s going on this city."
Dean’s smirk doesn’t falter. Instead he shrugs his shoulders unperturbed, "Let’s pay her a visit tonight. If she turns out to be a witch, we just gank ‘er."
"Dean," Sam scoffs and drags a hand down his face, "I know that look." Dean wiggles his eyebrows.
Sam shakes his head, followed by an incredulous chuckle, "Come on, man, you know you can’t charm your way into her pants. She's clearly not the type for a quick fling. And you’re not exactly Shakespeare."
Dean gets the shotgun out from under the lid and throws it back into the boot. "Oh Sammy, you've still got to learn a lot about women," he says, slamming it shut.
Sam rolls his eyes when his older brother turns to pat him on the shoulder, before he takes off to round the Impala. He pulls the driver's door open while Sam does the same on the opposite side.
"Mark my words, Sammy." He laughs and points a finger gun at him across the roof. "Every girl likes it dirty. Some just don’t show it."
If you reblog, I demand at least one gif of Dean that fits the last line. Cuz I couldn't find the one I was looking for and I want to wake up to many many flirty Dean gifs 😂

Heesu In Class 2 gives these queer moms hope
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Heesu In Class 2 isn't targeting the BL audience, it's queer representation in a Kdrama and that makes us excited. This difference means that the struggles of being a queer youth were expertly contrasted against those living a het normative life, wrapped up inside a cute kdrama, and delivered to a much wider audience. An audience that may not have seen this perspective before. And the messages Heesu In Class 2 delivers to this audience are both powerful and important.
Love is Love. Mutual love is a precious gift and should be celebrated in all forms.
There were so many great messages during this series, but that felt like the final thought of Heesu's story. One that Heesu made when he said:
"Such insignificant tiny beings like us manage to find each other amidst countless specks of dust. How great of a miracle is that?"
The struggles of Heesu's sisters gives us all the evidence we need to see how precious it is to find someone that returns our feelings.
There were lots of other incredible messages/moments throughout the series that we were obsessed with. We already talked ourselves out of rewatching the series just to collect more evidence for this post, so we will try to be satisfied with only listing the ones we remember off the top of our heads.
A quick list of epic moments Heesu In Class 2 delivered to a wider audience:
"Maybe everyone can see what I am trying so hard to hide." Starting off the series by showing Heesu's fear of someone discovering his crush.
Constant contrast between queer vs het experience/acceptance. TWICE calling out the difference in difficulty and risk for a queer person to confess a crush. "I'm pretending not to know."
"Before my secret swallows me up. Before I fall into this dark hole forever." Heesu talking about the danger of secrets in episode 9.
Seung Won talking to Heesu about his mom being with a woman after ending her unhappy marriage to his father, "They live together 'cause the like each other. It's much better than living with someone you don't like."
Heesu finding comfort when he learns that Seung Won sees nothing wrong with being queer:
"At least Seung Won wouldn't hate me just for being myself, or get mad because I'm different. The moment I thought that... the weight on my mind was lightened by the weight of just one person."
Seung Won's mom's willingness to lie to spare him from the judgement of others. Seung Won choosing the truth over the constant work it would take to live in a lie.
Heesu's fear of being outed when he receives that threat. The disgustingness and cruelty of someone being willing to out him for revenge.
We HATE Heesu and Seung Won trying to play off their relationship as a "bromance" in public. But we also LOVE it because once again it is in direct contrast/comparison to the het couple and including this bitter pill is both realistic for their story and shows the audience the inequality, fear and pain in not being accepted by society. So we hate that this poisoned our happy ending, but we hope it gives the larger audience something to think about.
Series like these plant the seeds that change hearts. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
We sincerely hope this series reaches as many people as possible with it's important messaging. We have even decided to make a MyDramaList account just so we can support this series. Our hope is that this story moves some people. Causes them to stop and think. Gives them a new perspective. And hopefully finds it's way to some lonely Heesus out there and gives them hope.
#loved it even though it gave us BIG feels#heesu in class 2#heesu x seungwon#kdrama#korean drama#korean bl#asian ql#gmd rambling#gmd post

Daddy’s Girl
in which carl finds a traumatized girl and works to heal her, but ends up confusing the poor thing in the process
tw: seatbelts everyone!, very angsty, heavy talk of sexual assault, daddy issues, traumatized!reader, reader calls carl dad- carl likes it, mention of a boner at the end, THERE IS NO SMUT IN THIS, idk i dreamed about this last night lol

“i wish you were my dad”
it was on a foggy afternoon when rick had asked carl to go on a quick run, just to see if he could find any more diapers for judith as she was quickly growing out of hers. instead he had found you in a cabin, tucked so deep into the woods he almost thought he was imagining things when he saw it. but it was real, and so were you. the beautiful girl he could’ve sworn was an angel. he told you so himself, and it quickly became your nickname. my angel, sweet angel, hey angel, c’mere little angel. he knew you weren’t like other kids your age, in the sense that, you truthfully had been traumatized.
the first night you stayed with carl he felt sick to his stomach, and the feeling never truly left till the next morning. you’d asked him, snuggled close in bed that night, if you’d have to ‘lay with his father.’ carl was scared to find out what that meant, but asked anyways. “well back at home, me and my sisters had to prove our to love to our father by being intimate with him before we started dating. i never got the chance to date after laying with my father, so do i have to lay with rick now?” carl swore he was gonna puke.
it took time, months even, for him to help you understand that everything you’d been taught was not love, but abuse. you were in denial most of the time, but he was patient, and you eventually came to terms with the fact that your ‘normal’ was not everyone else’s normal. carl taught you what it meant to be held, to be cared for, to have an honest relationship with someone without any intimacy involved. then, when the time came, he taught you that intimacy didn’t have to be painful, or something you should dread.
the idea of him becoming something more than a best friend to you had never crossed his mind. sure you two did things that couples normally would, like kissing, sharing a bed, he took your virginity for crying out loud. but he knew what you’d been taught growing up and he wanted nothing less than to scare you by pushing commitment onto you. so he’d never thought to want more with you. that is, not until now.
it was a friday night, and friday nights were always movie night. this week it was carl’s turn to pick the movie, and of course he picked a horror movie. you didn’t mind so much, in fact you loved horror movies. but this one was so realistic you could’ve sworn it was truly happening. you’d been curled up in carls lap from the moment the movie started; it was coming to an end now, and exhaustion was creeping in. you sighed, pressing your face against carls neck as your eyes started to drift shut.
“see?” carl whispered, tucking a blanket around the both of you. “i told you i’d keep you safe. ‘s just a movie.” you hummed in agreement, cuddling close and mumbled some nonsense about how tired you were. carl just chuckled, carding his fingers through your hair as he started swaying slightly side to side, rocking you to sleep.
i could get used to this, carl thought. maybe she could start staying in my room every night. and i could wake her up with breakfast every morning. and maybe on those mornings where it takes her longer to wake up i could brush her hair for her. and when she gets sleepy after movie nights on the couch i could carry her up to bed like i am now, all curled up in my arms like the angel she is. and maybe-
“wish you w’re m’ real dad s’mtimes”
and i could be like her dad. and-
wait.
she… oh.
that’s new.
carl froze halfway up the staircase, arms tightening around you. the angel in his arms stirred, the sudden stop pulling you out of your half asleep state. you hummed, a quiet thing, wondering what cause all the commotion. carl took a deep breath and continued up the stairs, walking the familiar path to his bedroom before tucking you in, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead before leaving the room.
carls step were hurried but not loud as he walked to the bathroom, shutting the door behind him and falling forward, arms gripping the sink. that was never his plan. this wasn’t supposed to happen. all carl wanted was for you to understand what love felt like, what it meant to have a friend who wanted nothing from you, just to be there. it was during this thought process that carl realized his mistake.
he’d been correcting everything your father did to you.
my dad always made me wear a tight bun. carl learned how to do loose braids and ponytails, even asking maggie to teach him how to curl your hair. my father never let me eat sweets. carl brought you a cookie every night before bed. my dad told me that the only way to show someone you love them is by being intimate. carl taught you that you could have a relationship with someone without ever having sex.
he only ever did things right according to what your dad did wrong.
carl thought back to that moment on the stairs. the way that you’d slumped in his arms, trusting him to hold your weight. how your small fingers had gripped his loose shirt. the way a small puff of air left your lips before you spoke. the muffled words, “wish you w’re m’ real dad s’mtimes.” carl took several deep breaths to compose himself, sitting up straight and bracing himself to walk back in the room.
carl paused as his eyes noticed something in the mirror, his hand hovering over the door knob. he was hard. carl was aroused from you calling him dad.
…
fuck.

Loving the HS AU after 30 posts. Re: their approaches to discipline in this post: https://www.tumblr.com/avonne-writes/781890657067450368/for-your-high-school-au-do-you-have-any-more?source=share
Not being a parent or ever planning to be one, even I find it super frustrating how 'perfect' some parents present themselves as on social media, so it's great to see a more realistic approach.
Given John's general affability, what kinds of things would get him to actually raise his voice to the kids? Is it fear when they do something dangerous, or if he's just having a supremely shitty day? How would Gale handle that the first time it happened given his own upbringing?
Re: this post - Thank you so much for the great question! I'm glad you're enjoying the new headcanons 🥰
Yes, neither John, nor Gale is perfect; and I agree, I think it’s more realistic like that.
The kind of things that make John raise his voice:
Indeed, the kids doing something dangerous
The kids hurting each other (this only happens once or twice)
Mean-spirited misbehaviour
The kids' misbehaviour in addition to an intense frustration of not being able to solve an issue, like a big workplace problem. Bucky can’t stand helplessness.
The kids hurting Gale (there's one specific incident when Abby hurts Gale emotionally and Bucky gets livid and sends her to her room).
Gale's reaction to Bucky yelling:
It's good to note that Gale's very familiar with what Bucky's like when he loses his temper, because they had several big fights in the past. He’s not intimidated by Bucky, nor did he ever flinch like he used to from his father.
But the first time Bucky yells at Abby and she cries and goes to Gale, Gale feels like he’s in shock. He has a short fear reaction. Nevertheless, he reiterates to Abby what she shouldn't have done, even as he wipes her tears and picks her up. Bucky notices this, of course, and his temper cools immediately. He goes over to them and tries to comfort Abby with a gentle voice. Soon enough, she's okay, but more careful not to misbehave.
Later that night, Bucky and Gale talk about it. Bucky apologizes and says it won't happen again, which makes Gale angry with him for a minute, because it reminds him of his dad promising stuff like that. But he calms down soon and tells Bucky to just be realistic about it. Bucky amends and says he’ll try not to lose his temper like that. Then, Bucky asks Gale about his feelings, and Gale eventually confesses that it made him feel bad. He and Bucky talk it over and agree that the most important thing is that the kids should never doubt his love for them.
And while the yelling does happen every now and then in the future too, they always deal with it the best they can, and it doesn't become a big issue.

Block me if you think the headcanons about the Aftons are all racist, homophobic, and sexist just because you think it's "accurate and realistic" since this is the 70s - 80s 💀🙏🙏🙏
First of all, why do we have to care about fiction becoming logical? => It's a flaw and full of gaps when you try to make it only correct, thinking it is "canon" over anyone else's headcanon, and "trampling" it in a rude and disrespectful manner.I'll be blunt: you are a pretentious and pathetic person, truly.
And that also diminishes the important characteristic point (small or large) of the character - it shows that you completely miss all the point.
Secondly, don't make me throw the entire novel, the evidence already present in the canon, in your face.Do we really belong to the same fandom???I won't talk about someone saying "William will be Trump's support."
And then his children?? Alright, I find it amusing that some people think William abusing Elizabeth is automatically "sexist." Didn't he abuse all his children equally? In the novel, William also clearly praises Jessica for her sharp intellect and thinks she has an eye for science. I might be wrong, but I'm sure he said something like that to her!
And the most important thing... Lamar is a black character in the first part of the Silver Eyes trilogy, if William were racist, it should have been evident in the part where he was harsh with Lamar, but was William???? NO HE DIDN'T.
And oh, Michael too, most of his friends are of different races, so if he is so racist, why does he hang out with them? Idk what the shit if you thinking something wide- ugh
And if you intend to tell me that "Everyone has their own interpretation." Then SORRY, it's not like you can just spit your shit whatever you want and call it your opinion, headcanon, or interpretation and insist on it like that. At least you should know how to research before speaking, don't just dive in and say something even more ridiculous than others. Don't even dare to act like you know everything especially when you ACTUALLY don't, its fucking cringe
Sorry moots, I'm not in a good mood today, I just can't believe there are people on TikTok with such ridiculous thoughts :// And I'm thinking if there are still people who intend to say that to any Afton fans and just ewwww.

Yeah I think it's important for people to remember what CPN is. Some fans forget that everything here is clowning and CPN.
They are also individuals with their own separate obligations and interests like any other human being, and taking any evidence of them being apart for any amount of time when they are in the same city as proof that they didn't get together at all is frankly absurd.
Just the fact alone that GG was in Shanghai when DD had his race weekend is 👀 enough that turtles should be feeding happily on that candy. Especially that the insanely private and famously elusive GG made a point of letting the world know he was in Shanghai on that particular weekend. He could have slipped quietly into Shanghai, he could have enjoyed the concert in private.
Of course he's going to go see his favorite singer when he is in town. That much is a given. However, let's not forget that she is on tour and playing all over the place. It's not like this was his only opportunity to see her.
As for the tents, it's fun to clown about that but remember that Shanghai International Circuit is a much larger and more sophisticated facility than Zhuhai. There are likely many comfortable VIP areas where guests can view the race away from the crowds at Shanghai, particularly compared with Zhuhai.

Shanghai International Circuit
Keep in mind that a tent on the side of the race track is not the best place to view a race. Races are loud, dusty and dirty, and trackside at a major auto race is also not necessarily the safest location. If more private and comfortable options are available, of course that would be chosen over a tent.

Zhuhai International Circuit
Just because we clown that a tent might have been used by friends/family at one track does not mean that it's going to be used at every track. These facilities have varying accommodations. No two tracks are going to have the same setup. Some tracks will be better able to accommodate privacy needs and VIP guests than others will. Just because a tent held people at one raceway and tires at another, doesn't shut down the topic and close the case.
It makes sense to think more realistically about all the circumstances and not just a few that people are discussing.
And the tent at Zhuhai was definitely a private viewing/resting space for those connected to DD and his racing team. It had an RV attached and people were constantly seen going in and out of it. It was also located next to the pits where DD was spending most of his time.
It's also important to remember that we weren't just clowning about a tent at Zhuhai. There was also the audio/video footage of people mentioning GG's name. While this doesn't prove he was there, it's very 👀 and good fodder for CPN.
The other thing that I want to talk about is the claim that next of kin have to be present at a race, and that GG is listed as DD's next of kin. I have seen people reporting this as true, and it's really frustrating.
The only evidence to support the claim that next of kin have to be present at a race is hearsay and conjecture. We have no official, verified information on this at all. Given the inconvenience and impracticality of this - and given that serious accidents are fairly rare - this claim is highly unlikely to be true. It's more likely that a driver would be required to designate someone who is present at the track as their point person in case of a serious accident, and that person must be authorized to contact next of kin and make certain practical in-the-moment decisions about any situation that might arise. Designating someone who will be present and requiring specific people to be present are two different things. Ultimately we just don't know.
We have absolutely no information whatsoever about who is listed as DD's next of kin (Nor should we! That's a very private matter!).
It's extremely important not to overstate things. I see this happening all the time, and it's irresponsible. Just because people are excited about something, and just because it makes sense to someone, that doesn't make it true. Let's not talk as though it is. This is how myths become entrenched in the fandom, and it's also how things become increasingly confusing for new turtles.
Let's all clown responsibly. 🤡
“last two days in shanghai”: A completely fake series of events typed up by a cpf. 🤡🤡🤡

well, i think the title of this post is disclaimer enough as it is. lol. i’ve initially talked about this here and here. this will be about the events that happened after the second link. so it’s the morning of the race and there are videos of wyb and xz here and there. i am actually slightly changing my stance on xz’s intention. i think he wants us to know that he is there. enough to be photographed leaving his hotel and nothing else. the usual plausible deniability card he and yibo are so good at.
so let’s start with a run down of events: we all know yibo won. by 5:00 PM we had videos of WYB’s win already. it was a happy affair. then around 8PM we received news that WYB is nominated for Huabiao Awards. after that, we got some talk of XZ attending Stefanie Sun’s concert at around 9:30. this was later confirmed by videos and XZ posted about it himself so much later in the day. please note that the 9:30 time when was the news made it to the internet, when it actually happened was earlier.
now here comes the clownery-interpretation.
no one knows where xz is after he left his hotel. yibo already won by 5PM, tho there was still time in the podium. so was that enough time for him to attend Stefanie Sun’s concert? absolutely. please see below:

so proximity wise. it’s very possible. there are also talks of how xz came in late. some attendees said he was there during the 3rd part of the concert, and was seen leaving the audience section before the program ended. well, i’m thinking he might have already been there, backstage or whatever VIP section earlier. people only learned he was there when he came out and stefanie mentioned him. this is his idol and his fandom lol so i would imagine that he wanted be there on time. tho being a bit late is okay too cause he still had to spend time with his champion racer boyfriend 🙄🙄🙄😤😤😤 there is a repo from a concert goer that he left around 9PM. yibo on the other hand was seen leaving the track at 9:30. so coordinated!
xz was again spotted returning to his hotel at around 11PM. so it is possible that xz watched wyb’s race, watch the concert and they still had time to go celebrate. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
XZ being spotted at a concert is the perfect alibi of sorts. he can say he was there to attend the concert. but if you look closely and observe the time, there is a huge window that is unexplained. Of course i’m not removing the fact that XZ did want to go. this specific concert is to celebrate her 25th year anniversary as a singer so it’s really special and any fan would surely want to watch. but it also happens to line up perfectly with bobo’s race.
now i’ll quickly run down a few cpns floating around……
first is how the caption is formatted, it’s so similar to yibo’s birthday post

the photo of the nutcracker that he shared was during the song 真的 ( really ). maybe he just liked how it looked but the song itself is pretty telling. if we are talking about this and interpreting it in the CPN context. that weekend specifically, they both had to go through a lot to spend time together. but they did. love is not always easy!
⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

i love his caption for the concert but i have a feeling that the last part was for someone else. for his racing win and the awards nomination.
I fly forward, fly across a sea of time, and the best youth is you. I wish you happiness every day! Forever!
He specifically mentioned this song 尚好的青春 that she did not sing during the concert. but of course it’s important to him and yibo cause this was the song he performed during the 11.11 concert where WYB was supposed to introduce him 😭😭😭😭
https://youtu.be/B2cF9NzGO0Y?si=pB_aOWI0jkkELQR2
youtube
i’ll stop here and there’s probably some more if you clown hard enough 😋😋😋 you can also add him talking about being a “shining adult” and how that related to Chen Shuo.
Moving on —Sunday, was another race day and sadly, yibo couldn’t continue competing. he made it in time to attend Huabiao Awards. XZ then went back to Beijing and was spotted around 10PM. again. so much time in between for XZ to watch Bobo again!
what a great weekend in shanghai 😉😉😉

lastly, i wanna address the cpn about the black tent. some are saying that it’s a possible place for xz to be in there but was later was said to be where tires are stored. others are saying that for sports like this, the emergency contact should be present. i was holding off talking about that cause when cpfs are hyped up, we tend to over interpret. and that’s dangerous. we all fall for that one way or another, and i think it takes time to be more discerning. all cpn pieces should be taken as what they are — cpn. made up. fiction. i don’t know how i can make people understand that xz being there is not a fact. it’s not a matter of what “evidence” was there or whatever “washing” was done. the default fact is that xz wasn’t there.

so i hope people will not be too glass hearted when a different explanation for cpns comes up. this is all fiction. we won’t know. just enjoy the fandom! don’t take it too seriously. 💛💛💛

Is it maybe a little pretentious to have my persona be more.. god like? Perhaps- XD
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In one manner, Starry is a sovereign of the night sky, the stars at dusk. She watches over the world, spanning across several universes, and her domains resides above them all. She spends her time watching over the little people in their worlds, embarking on journeys, meeting strife, falling to love and loss. She does not instill fate, she simply watches, but she knows of what is to come. She does not exist to any of them, as a concept outside of their universe, the goddess of their gods. And yet?
In another manner, she is nothing. Nothing omnipotent or all-powerful about her, other than her regal/elegant looks. She is a big nerd at heart, kicking her feet and giggling at people's writings and aus. She may have curved horns and stars dotting midnight skin, but she is no more of a god than a human wearing a yellow poncho. She resides our with the community and has the niche ability to summon a blue martini glass that she can communicate through/physically embody if need be. Why? Comedic humor. XD /hj /silly

#I do not want to hustle and some of my most beloved people do not understand this#I was talking to my honorary big sister on the phone today about why I'm taking a gap year#the main reason is that the final semester of the program I was accepted into is around 50 hours per week of unpaid field work#which means you aren't allowed to have a job during that semester. this information was not presented until after the application process#anyway she was like “well that's fairly normal for healthcare professions” which is true#however this is a community college program and I would have expected them to account for people needing to work throughout college#anyway I responded “yeah true but I'm considering that maybe healthcare isn't for me then. I don't want a job that requires that much work.#And I don't! I don't want 50 or 60 hour work weeks! I want to work 40 hours and then leave and live my life!#but she made it seem like any job that requires a college degree is going to require that. And I don't think that's true#but also she is older than I am and has much more job experience so idk.#maybe she's advising based on the fact that as a teenager I was super type A and ambitious and really wanted a career?#whereas in the past couple years...idk I just want a reliable job that I don't hate that pays the bills and leaves time for enjoying life#so. I'm not sure#And now I kind of feel bad for not having that ambition anymore/ not wanting to have to give myself ulcers to get through school#But college is not worth my sanity and I found that out the hard way.#And I also feel bad for not being one of those people who CAN handle that much workload! Like I can certainly learn#to do more than I'm doing currently#but I will never be one of those constantly busy and insanely productive people. And I don't even want to be anymore#and yet that feels like an error.#I am not lazy! I used to think I was but no. I enjoy getting work done and doing personal projects and going to work and improving things.#It's not even as though I don't have things I want to do with my life. I have a lot of short term and long term goals!#I want to contribute to my community and support my family however I can and make art and tell stories and be a safe place for people!#and so much else!#but those ambitions aren't necessarily directly connected to school or a job for me anymore#and I value rest and having a social life too much to completely put my health on hold for years and years#sure college does take up a lot of time and energy but it shouldn't wholly consume your life as far as I can see.#and now I feel very unsure if that approach is realistic.#thinking I should talk with her again and try to explain myself a little better and ask what she meant.#diary

#mdzs#lan wangji#jiang yanli#wei wuxian#jiang cheng#i ask bc i think the subject just never comes up in mdzs. we know how lan wangji feels about jiang cheng (he's a hater) but not yanli#which is a bit strange given how important she was to wei wuxian#uhh given that im the poll runner im not sure if i should share my own opinions. but#imo you can argue for any of these#yanli was made to be the perfect fridged woman so it feels like sacrilege for anyone to dislike her. she's too nice#and given that she's kind of similar in temperament to lan xichen i can see lan wangji thinking highly of her#especially after she sticks up for wei wuxian at the phoenix mountain hunt (it always comes back to wei wuxian)#but i can also see lan wangji focusing on the fact that she married into the sect that ultimately destroyed wei wuxian#he's not exactly reasonable when wei ying is involved. so i can see him arguing that she should have used her position#as wife of the jin sect heir to do more for wei wuxian. or that she should have convinced jiang cheng not to expel wei wuxian#when she was still living at lotus pier. or something like that#this is not reasonable and lan wangji does not have all the facts. but he isnt a reasonable person lmao#grudge holder 100. blame slinger 1000.#there is also the fact that wei wuxian super killed yanli's husband#so in a yanli lives au would lan wangji expect yanli to just get over this? so wei wuxian can be happy?#honestly i dont know#at any rate. in canon lan wangji doesnt seem to think very highly of jin ling. who is yanli's son#which seems to imply to me that he and yanli did not have any sort of friendship or acquaintanceship#so imo the most realistic option out of all the options here#is that lan wangji thinks of yanli as just wei wuxian's dead loved one. and not really her own person#in the end it all comes back to wei wuxian lol#yanyan polls#yanyan speaks#adding second tag bc i talked too much in the tags

after reading the wtk manga, kabahana was probably the couple that grew the most on me. there is genuine mutual love, respect and appreciation between them, but they slightly differ from the other couples in that their bond was mostly formed bc of volleyball, not bc of their otaku hobbies (although, kabakura's otaku side is ultimately what brought them together, even if he doesn't want to admit it).
sure, naoya isn't much of an otaku, but he and kou bonded over gaming. hirotaka isn't a fudanshi, but he and narumi never hide around each other and he's openminded enough that he likes anything. after rereading the manga about a thousand times, i realise my problem with them wasn't the bickering or their difference in hobbies, but that kabakura's insecurity kinda spreads towards koyanagi. he's SO insecure about his interests that he can't try out anything else and he cringes when koyanagi wants to cosplay, bc he finds himself cringy. i do think they get better later in the manga, but the way their first big conflict got resolved still pisses me off. i don't think it was entirely kabakura's fault, koyanagi could've brought up how she felt way earlier (and while she was sober), and i do believe that he loves her for who she is. but MAN he could've at least given a genuine 'i'm sorry' in that moment.
#text#wotakoi#wotakoi posting#honestly the only thing i'm more on kabakura's side w their fights is right before he proposed#with the necklace thing#like i get koyanagi's perspective here but ma'am you never told him how you felt about it bc YOU GUYS DONT TALK ABT THIS#they're so comfortable with each other and speak their mind and yet they struggle with communication#which is realistic btw! it's not bad if you find a way to work through it#but you can't always expect your partner to view things in your relationship 100% the same way you do#with the wedding cosplay thing..... ehhh im more on her side but i get his#like its their wedding she should do whatever she wants#but also their entire family is there i kinda understand#anyways. oomf look away.#this is not a hate post i just think kabakura needed to do better sometimes

#How You Get The Girl#anita kelly#aroaessidhe 2024 reads#I thought this was okay! kinda cheesy set up but also a lot genuine?#some really great well rounded characters and exploration of identity; careers/futures; fostering; depression/migranes;#the practice dating thing is silly as a set up but it wasn’t drawn out in a similarly ridiculous way -#they dealt with the complex feelings in a realistic way#in general I enjoyed her figuring out her demisexuality but it falls into that common and frustrating trope of acespec characters conflatin#aro and ace experiences and putting them all under ace. half of the stuff she talks about is romance and relationships and dating and it’s#discussed as being potentially separate things.#(other than her best friend saying maybe you like romance but not sex etc but he never says aro & it doesn't feel like she internalises it)#Obviously personal experience is complicated and not everyone can figure out the differences in their own feelings#but if you’re making the point to talk about asexuality; why not bring up aromanticism?#i get the impression that a lot of these authors don’t even consider it at all; their version of demisexuality encompasses both aro and ace#but they’re not fully conscious of that fact.#also I know I made that pissed off post about this thing the other day which yes was after reading this#BUT i’m not super mad about this book specifically as much as the trend. like it’s fine just….Oh Yay This Again. kind of thing.#also I read the audiobook and just now finding out her name is elle not el shocked me LMAO she should have the more butch version...#hey i also appreciate some calling-parents-by-first-name without it being a Thing#also this cover art is unsettling.

something about being told im 'the leading person at this whole academy when it comes to interpretation and stage intelligence' by the husband of the woman im trying (not really. but i mean. who knows) to seduce... ok boy you got me. lets make it a polycule.
#im playing it all cool and funny now but atm i legit burst into tears lol#like he said i have a 'good voice too of course' but i know realistically that is not my strongest asset#and even if i were technically perfect. which im NOT lol. the voice itself is just nothing special. it's there ig but that's about it#but its nice to know i may not be 100% useless after all#(just 90%)#also apparently the most feared and respected professor who came to the concert said. again. that he likes me the most.#which again. crying real actual tears about this all rn this means literally the world to me this is everything i have#and i have no one to share this with because im not gonna say it to my uni friend cause i dont want her to feel like im boasting or sth#(even tho she has no such qualms herself but probably because i know how. not great. it feels when someone keeps talking about themselves#and about how great they are and how easy everything is for them. i dont wanna do it back at her.#well there's also the fact that i dont think im great and this is not fucking easy to me at all lol#but idk i think the difference between us is that she actually admitted she sees no point in singing if she cant show off (thus she hates#the duet we're singing because she sings the lower part and cant show off her high notes or coloratura.#which is like. an insane take to me. i mean it i get it. kinda. if i had a voice like hers maybe id be like that too fuck knows.#but that just feels so. idk. sad to me. so self obsessed and empty. like you dont care about the music itself? about you being a part of it?#also immediately made singing with her not fun anymore. i thought we were creating something TOGETHER. but thanks for the confirmation#that you only really care about being 'better than'. yikes.#like idk this behaviour is funny and iconic in old school opera legends like yes go bite each others dicks off.#but it hits completely different when it's your own colleague let alone your friend. like damn girl. damn)#) anyway. the husband is kinda hot too now that i think of it. i really should seduce them both.#except its realistically not possible since they've both seen me cry now (she saw it like a hundred times lol)#so ive lost the hot and mysterious card alas. no uni professors romance for me

Margaret of Anjou’s visit to Coventry [in 1456], which was part of her dower and that of her son, Edward of Lancaster, was much more elaborate. It essentially reasserted Lancastrian power. The presence of Henry and the infant Edward was recognised in the pageantry. The ceremonial route between the Bablake gate and the commercial centre was short, skirting the area controlled by the cathedral priory, but it made up for its brevity with no fewer than fourteen pageants. Since Coventry had an established cycle of mystery plays, there were presumably enough local resources and experience to mount an impressive display; but one John Wetherby was summoned from Leicester to compose verses and stage the scenes. As at Margaret’s coronation the iconography was elaborate, though it built upon earlier developments.
Starting at Bablake gate, next to the Trinity Guild church of St. Michael, Bablake, the party was welcomed with a Tree of Jesse, set up on the gate itself, with the prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah explaining the symbolism. Outside St. Michael’s church the party was greeted by Edward the Confessor and St. John the Evangelist; and proceeding to Smithford Street, they found on the conduit the four Cardinal Virtues—Righteousness (Justice?), Prudence, Temperance, and Fortitude. In Cross Cheaping wine flowed freely, as in London, and angels stood on the cross, censing Margaret as she passed. Beyond the cross was pitched a series of pageants, each displaying one of the Nine Worthies, who offered to serve Margaret. Finally, the queen was shown a pageant of her patron saint, Margaret, slaying the dragon [which 'turned out to be strictly an intercessor on the queen's behalf', as Helen Maurer points out].
The meanings here are complex and have been variously interpreted. An initial reading of the programme found a message of messianic kingship: the Jesse tree equating royal genealogy with that of Christ had been used at the welcome for Henry VI on his return from Paris in 1432. A more recent, feminist view is that the symbolism is essentially Marian, and to be associated with Margaret both as queen and mother of the heir rather than Henry himself. The theme is shared sovereignty, with Margaret equal to her husband and son. Ideal kingship was symbolised by the presence of Edward the Confessor, but Margaret was the person to whom the speeches were specifically addressed and she, not Henry, was seen as the saviour of the house of Lancaster. This reading tips the balance too far the other way: the tableau of Edward the Confessor and St. John was a direct reference to the legend of the Ring and the Pilgrim, one of Henry III’s favourite stories, which was illustrated in Westminster Abbey, several of his houses, and in manuscript. It symbolised royal largesse, and its message at Coventry would certainly have encompassed the reigning king. Again, the presence of allegorical figures, first used for Henry, seems to acknowledge his presence. Yet, while the message of the Coventry pageants was directed at contemporary events it emphasised Margaret’s motherhood and duties as queen; and it was expressed as a traditional spiritual journey from the Old Testament, via the incarnation represented by the cross, to the final triumph over evil, with the help of the Virgin, allegory, and the Worthies. The only true thematic innovation was the commentary by the prophets.
[...] The messages of the pageants firmly reminded the royal women of their place as mothers and mediators, honoured but subordinate. Yet, if passive, these young women were not without significance. It is clear from the pageantry of 1392 and 1426 in London and 1456 in Coventry that when a crisis needed to be resolved, the queen (or regent’s wife) was accorded extra recognition. Her duty as mediator—or the good aspect of a misdirected man—suddenly became more than a pious wish. At Coventry, Margaret of Anjou was even presented as the rock upon which the monarchy rested. [However,] a crisis had to be sensed in order to provoke such emphasis [...].

#historicwomendaily#margaret of anjou#my post#henry vi#yeah I don't necessarily agree with Laynesmith's interpretation (that it was essentially Marian with an emphasis on shared sovereignty)#which she herself says is 'admittedly very speculative'#as this book points out that interpretation tips the balance too far on the other side and has a somewhat selective reading#It's also important to remember that this interpretation was not really reflected across wider Lancastrian propaganda at the time#which isn't really talked about - let alone emphasized - as much by historians but remained focused on the King#For example: look at the pro-Lancastrian poem 'The Ship of State' which hails Henry VI as a 'noble shyp made of good tree'#and emphasizes how he was widely supported and defended by many great Lancastrian lords and the crown prince#but not Margaret who was entirely absent#also look at the book 'Knyghthode and Bataile' (presented to Henry) and Fortescue's various pro-Lancastrian texts in the 1460s#even the recording of that Yorkist trial which was iirc reported in the 1459 attainder#all of these were entirely conventional and highlighted the presence and importance of the King. Margaret was not emphasized.#so either the Lancastrians were impossibly inconsistent about what message they actually wanted to convey about the role of their own queen#or the Coventry pageants were not actually meant to emphasize Margaret in the lieu of Laynesmith's interpretation#and would not have been viewed in such a manner by contemporaries#I think we should also keep in mind that we don't really know what Henry VI's condition was like at the time of MoA's entry to Coventry#we know he had been injured in St. Albans and had only just recovered from his second illness#this is especially important to consider since we know he had also arrived at Coventry before Margaret but much more discreetly#and was not welcomed by any pageants that we know of. This is VERY unusual and can be best explained if we consider the fact that he#may have simply not been in the right state (be it physical or state of mind) for it at the time#in which case the pageants for Margaret should be viewed as more of a improvisation/cover-up/temporary measure to bolster prestige#or Henry may have deliberately taken a more discreet role to emphasize the position of his heir - especially important after the long wait#imo I think Kipling's interpretation (ie: that they addressed Margaret but really referenced the prince & heir) makes a lot more sense:#'Coventry [...] regarded Margaret's entry as a kind of triumph-by-proxy: the Queen entered the city but Coventry received its Prince'#though I think he tends to view Margaret as more of a cipher (and has a very questionable view of Henry VI) which I also don't agree with.#The pageants very much DID focus on and reference her but they most prominently emphasized her 'motherhood and duties as queen'#ie: I think Kipling and Laynesmith tip too far on opposite sides and I think this interpretation takes the most realistic middle ground
